The Education Council held its third meeting this year under the chairmanship of His Excellency Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al- Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Education Council at the Diwan of Royal Court, on Sunday. On top of the meeting’s agenda was the discussion of the ‘Philosophy of Education’ document prepared and revised by several concerned authorities with the participation of experts in the educational, social and cultural fields. The document would be a major reference for the educational policies and unification of visions in the field of education.
The council also discussed the School Education Law prepared in cooperation with concerned authorities and experts and specialists in the field of education and other related fields. The law is part of a continuous series of efforts being made by the council with the aim of improving the education system in the Sultanate through developing educational legislatives.
The council discussed the memorandum submitted by the ministry of higher education regarding the policies of admission in the education specializations in the higher education institutions. It also discussed the memorandum submitted by the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) which clarified the activities and services it provides to the higher education institutions. On view of that the council called on fostering the quality of education in accordance to the specifications of OAAA.
