Muscat, (ONA) - The Sultanate represented by the Ministry of Education participated in the meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) for the first time through video conferencing, in the presence of Dr. Ali bin Abdul Khaliq al-Qarni, ABEGS Director General in Riyadh, and the undersecretaries of the ministries of education in the member states of the office, given the complications of the exceptional circumstances regarding the decisions of these ministries to suspend the study due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus (covid-19).
The Sultanate was represented at the meeting by Dr. Hamoud bin Khalfan al- Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education and Curricula, CEO of ABEGS.
The ministries of education in the member states reviewed their experiences, procedures and measures that they had taken in distance education, due to the spread of Coronavirus (covid-19), submission of proposals and solutions on education for young students, and how to deal with educational wastage at all levels of general education, in addition to how to deal in particular with the educational wastage of the final year students in the secondary stage, the impact of this on their admission to higher education institutions, and the equivalence of their degrees in the member states.
The meeting touched on the solutions and proposals that can be followed to evaluate these students for the purpose of transferring them to the higher levels in their academic stages, including the final year students in the secondary stage if the problem persists until the end of the academic year.
