Muscat: The National Defence College (NDC) hosted yesterday at its headquarters Dr. Nomvuyo Nokwe, Secretary General of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
On her arrival at the headquarters of the College, she was received by Maj-Gen Salim bin Musallam Qatan, NDC Commandant.
During the meeting, views on matters of mutual interest were exchanged. The NDC Commandant welcomed her on her visit to the Sultanate.Dr. Nomvuyo Nokwe delivered a lecture on “The Indian Ocean Rim Foundation and its role in achieving development and world peace”, in which she expressed her happiness to visit the Sultanate.She also praised the important efforts and roles of the Sultanate in the association, represented in “Fishing Support Unit ,” which performs data collection and helps check illegal fishing activities in the Indian Ocean.
She also highlighted the role of the Sultanate in the empowerment and promotion of the tourism sector and the promising future of this type of investment.She spoke about the possibility of establishing a centre for tourism resources to be based in the Sultanate.
