MUSCAT - A’soud Global School (AGS) on Wednesday announced the inauguration of three state-of-the-art German-engineered science laboratories at its campus.
Attended by H E Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed bin Nassir al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, the British international curriculum school hosted an event to launch the new facilities.
Darren Lyon, headmaster of A’soud Global School, said, “Our ambition to earn recognition as one of Muscat’s top providers of secondary science education is reinforced today as we unveil these new facilities. We thank Dr Madeeha for joining us as we mark this significant step forward for our school. We’re proud to continue our efforts to provide our students with every opportunity to develop their scientific enquiry skills.”
In an ongoing quest to enhance its educational offering, the new facilities form part of the school’s continued efforts to challenge students to explore the reaches of their natural curiosity.
“Be it in physics, chemistry or biology, students will now be able to apply their theoretical knowledge to experiments and dedicated practical study. They will be able to enjoy a complete scientific experience from a young age,” explained Lyon.
Key features of the customisable laboratories include flexible seating and desks, a fully-stocked preparation room and extensive storage for hazardous chemicals. A full-time lab technician has been employed to ensure the effective functionality of the new facilities, which include a physics lab with centrally managed AC and DC power units, a chemistry lab for conducting experiments using articulated gas units, and a biology lab where students can conduct in-depth microscopic investigations.
“We will focus on complementing our resources with a committed staff and student body, to further enhance the overall learning experience at AGS. We already have our focus on Grade 12 and how best to support our students’ ambitions.”
