Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan, Chairman of The Research Council will open the ceremony for the launch of the 5th Annual Forum for Researchers and the announcement of the names of winners of the 5th round of the National Research Award.

The ceremony will be held at the Oman Convention and Exhibitions Centre in the presence of a number of members of the Royal Family, ministers and undersecretaries with the participation of more than 5,000 researchers, academics and experts from within and outside the Sultanate.

The programme of the forum includes six research sectors and honouring of six student research projects within the student research support programme for the various higher education institutions.

An accompanying exhibition and a discussion on the research priorities for the various sectors will also be organised with the participation of academic, government and private sector and the Office of 2040 Oman Vision.

The forum would also review the actions taken with regard to the National Research Strategy 2008-2020.

The forum aims to encourage researchers and to help them network with other researchers to exchange of expertise and dissemination of the research culture among other objectives.

The 5th Annual Forum for Researchers would also contribute to engorgement of researchers to showcase their research in the various scientific fields. -ONA
