MUSCAT: The Main Committee for Future Vision ‘Oman 2040’ reviewed the progress of the project, as well as preparations for the national conference on Oman 2040 Vision scheduled to be held in the first quarter of 2019. The committee also discussed priority options to emphasise the importance of their compatibility with Oman Vision 2040. The meeting of the main committee was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of His Highness Sayyid Haitham bin Tareq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, Chairman of the Committee.
According to their priorities, the topics covered the path of economic development, and highlighted the specialisation of the government and the private sectors to manage economic issues and financial sustainability policies, as well as alternatives of the labour market policies with a need to attract skilled workers with high efficiency, decentralisation frameworks required in the Sultanate with the importance of focusing on creating an integrated view between urban centres and addressing the development gap among the governorates, trends in global supply and demand for energy and their implications on the Sultanate.
Further, the main committee discussed the alternatives available to deal with these issues, as well as the policies, which are in line with Oman Vision 2040 that were reached according to the meetings of the vision’s committees, teams, discussions and workshops, organised with different segments of the society on trends and strategic objectives of the vision.
