NIZWA, Aug 13 – The ‘Developing Smartphone Application’ session concluded at the Training and Professional Development Centre in Nizwa on Friday. The session was organised by the Information Technology Department at the Directorate-General of Education in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, in cooperation with the Information Technology Authority (ITA) and Oman Liquefied Natural Gas. The five-day course saw 30 students from Grades 10 and 11. They were trained by ITA experts. The course was aimed at raising a generation capable of creativity and innovation, in addition to modern technology, programming and technical development.
The session concluded under the auspices of Suleiman bin Abdullah al Salmi, Director-General of Al Dakhiliyah Directorate of Education. Muhannad bin Nasser al Naabi, Director, SAS Centre for Developing Smartphone Application in the Information Technology Authority, was also present. Hilal bin Abdullah al Alawi, Head of Device Management Department at Al Dakhiliyah Directorate of Education Instrumentation and supervisor of the course, said: “The course was designed to instil the skills of smartphone programming in schoolchildren so that they know the basic steps of developing Android applications in smartphones.”
