The Education Council held its 4th meeting for current year at the Diwan of Royal Court premises on Monday under the chairmanship of H.E Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Education Council.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Education Council expressed his sincere greetings and that of the members of the Education Council to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos on the occasion of the blessed Eid al Adha. They prayed to Allah for the return of this occasion on His Majesty for many years to come, grant him good health and well-being, the Omani people further progress and prosperity and the Arab and Islamic nations security and peace.
The Education Council reviewed the measures taken by the Secretariat General in relation to preparing the special report on the education march in the Sultanate. The report will present the indicators and data on the achievements made by the various types of education over the past period. The report will also cover aspects related to quality assurance of education, as well as the major projects carried out by the Education Council since its establishment.
The Education Council also reviewed the circular submitted by the Ministry of Education about establishing a central agency under the Ministry to be in-charge of assessing the performance of school education and ensuring its quality.
The Education Council approved the establishment of a centre under the Ministry of Education to be in-charge of evaluating school performance. It also tasked the Ministry to prepare detailed studies and submit them to the Council to take appropriate actions towards them.
The Education Council also reviewed the latest developments related to establishing Muscat University. The Education Council called on the Founding Committee of the project to double its efforts to establish this education institution.
