The Education Council held its second meeting of the year, led by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud al- Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of royal Court and Chairman of the Council.

The Council discussed the topics on its agenda. At the beginning of the meeting, there has been a presentation by the Omani Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) on the national qualifications framework project currently being prepared in cooperation with the relevant organization. The presentation reviewed the progress made during the past period and the proper mechanisms to manage and implement the national qualifications framework.

The Council also discussed the Omani Education Assessment and Evaluation Centre and gave instructions to complete the procedures for setting up the Centre in coordination with the relevant organizations. The Council also approved the terms and procedures for admission at the education rehabilitation program which will be presented by Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and a number of private universities.

On the other hand, the Education Council approved the controls and mechanisms for commercial investment in the land plots dedicated for higher education institutions after maintaining coordination with the relevant organizations.

The Council also discussed the criteria for the internal scholarships on the private higher education institutions and instructed the relevant organizations to take necessary actions in this regard.

The Council also approved the establishment of Education Excellence Award for the Omani teacher and delegated its Secretariat General with the task of coronation with the relevant organizations to consider the issue.

The Council approved the establishment of Muscat University and ordered to complete the procedures to start study at it after completing requirements.
