An extract from a speech by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, may his soul rest in peace, on the occasion of the 15th National Day, 18 November 1985

" As we pursue our priority of rehabilitating and training our human resources to conform with our development plans and satisfy the demands of our national requirements, we shall, with God’s will, also pursue our care for our Omani youth. We firmly believe in the role of youth in making the present and the future, and it is our concern to develop their capacities, provide their basic needs, and prepare them soundly to undertake their duty to serve their country. In addition, we must pay constant concern to strengthening our ability in all respects to enable us to surmount difficulties, overcome challenges and implement our national tasks for the benefit of Oman and its people".
