An extract from a speech by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, may his soul rest in peace, on the occasion of the 6th National Day, 18 November 1976

" As we promised in our new year speech, priority is being given to the needs of our young people. This summer many of our students are working in our Ministries and other Public Departments during their summer holidays so that they may learn to accept responsibility and fit themselves for future services to their country. We take particular interest in this scheme since we have faith that our young people will be worthy inheritors of our national achievements. We intend that they shall have every opportunity to develop their talents in the services of Oman".
