A meeting was held to present and discuss the report of the consultative study on stages and paths of education in the Sultanate of Oman which was developed by the  Singapore Education Consulting Group in collaboration with the Education Council. The meeting was attended by a number of their Excellencies and specialists representatives of government and private organs concerned with the education sector in Oman. The meeting was held at Al Wahat Club in Al Uthiba.  

The study is based on the concept developed by the Secretariat General of the Education Council. This concept called for studying the proposals included in the National Strategy of  Education in the Sultanate of Oman 2040 regarding stages and paths of education and that was recommended by the study of re-structuring the education system  in Oman and the other study conducted by the State Council on revising the stages and paths of education as well as the memo of the Ministry of  Manpower on paths of vocational education and training and other related studies.

This study aims at arriving at a comprehensive vision to improve the  structure of the education system in the Sultanate of Oman with regard to number of years of schooling at each educational level , objectives to be achieved by the end of each level and the teaching plan of each level and grade. The study is also concerned with diversifying paths of post-basic education level as well as providing diversified specializations at academic and technical higher education institutions in a way that complies with the future trends of economic and social development of the Sultanate and the needs of the labor market.
